Over the years, the City of Midland has been recognized for outstanding customer service, safety, and technological innovations. Likewise, City staff continually prove – both on and off the job – that they are committed to not only our Midland customers, but also to the wider Great Lakes Bay Region (and beyond) through community service.The City also collaborates with companies and organizations that work to maintain our high quality of life. Economic development, a safe community, cultural amenities for many interests, low cost of living, and more are impacted by our combined efforts to make Midland a great place to live, work, and play.

June 26, 2014: Midland was named one of the top 10 best places to live in Michigan. Click here to find out more.
April 11, 2014: Movoto rated Midland third out of 100 Michigan communities studied for their diversity in age, race, education, and income.
Support of Parks and Recreation
March 21, 2014: Midland Parks and Recreation’s Beautification Advisory Committee received the Community Service Award from the Michigan Recreation and Park Association for providing outstanding support to public recreation and park programs in their community.
Outstanding Service for Cities
March 19, 2014: The Michigan Municipal League recognized the City of Midland with its annual Outstanding Service Award, praising the City for going above and beyond to facilitate discussions with key legislators on a threat to eliminate the federal tax exemption on municipal bonds. The MML indicated the City of Midland’s efforts had a direct impact on the fiscal health of cities across the country.
March 3, 2014: Midland was once again recognized for its low crime rates – this time, in our home state. SafeWise, a security resource service, ranked Midland as the 14th safest city in Michigan. Cities were rated according to 2012 FBI crime statistics.
February 26, 2014: CNNMoney named Midland County a community where the middle class thrives. The recognition was given to only eight communities across the U.S., and was determined based on unemployment numbers, affordability of housing, income levels, safety of the community, and more.One of 100 Safest Cities
January 2014: For the second year in a row, Midland was named one of America’s top 100 safest communities. The designation comes from NeighborhoodScout, a national neighborhood search engine that studies statistics to determine the best places to live, run a business, go to school, or find amenities that fit your needs and interests. The 100 safest list is based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents.
